Starting August 2023, customers using the local version of S/4HANA Cloud, public edition for Canada, will be able to create their own tax codes using SSCUI 101016 Define Tax Codes for Sales and Purchases.

It’s important to consider that SSCUI 100297 Automatic Account Determination should also be used to assign a G/L account to the new tax code.

Moreover, remember that the tax codes for Canada need a jurisdiction code. These are already delivered as part of the standard content available in public cloud. They are composed by four letters, all starting with CA and followed by the acronyms of the province. For instance, the jurisdiction code for the province of Quebec is CAQC.

Finally, please note that the maintenance of the new tax codes created by SAP’s customers is under the responsibility of SAP’s customers. For example, if customer creates tax code AB 5% for GST and the CRA decides to change the rate to 6%, it’s the customer who will need to update tax code rate AB in the system.

In the event of a legal change that impacts standard tax codes, customers who are already live will be responsible for updating them accordingly. Meanwhile, for new public cloud customers, SAP will continue to provide standard tax codes reflecting the percentages current at the time of each software release.

With this, SAP wants to make S/4HANA Cloud, public edition more flexible to adapt to the business needs of its customers.
