On September 13, 2023, an exciting new feature delivery (FD) was released for SAP Central Business Configuration (referred to as 2022_05.5 within the system and on SAP Help Portal). This blog post will provide you with a comprehensive overview of these new features, with insights into how they can help to streamline your day-to-day operations.

More Flexibility in Language Selection

Previously, the selected preconfigurations were deployed to customer systems in all available languages, whether the different languages were needed or not. In a 3-system landscape, you can now specify the languages that will be used for the configuration content in SAP S/4HANA Cloud. This increases the speed of deployment and saves you valuable time. Note that some countries and regions require the use of mandatory languages, which are automatically added for your convenience.

Besides this, in the Set Up Organizational Structure app, you can now maintain unit names for some of the organizational units in your scoped languages. This allows you to give customer-specific names to organizational units in the language that you’re most familiar with, facilitating the setup and maintenance of the organizational structure.

Better Documentation of Your Deployments

Every time you initiate the deployment to SAP S/4HANA Cloud by confirming the Scope and Organizational Structure is Completed milestone, you now have the option to document information related to the deployment. This step is optional but gives you the chance to add notes that will be transferred to SAP S/4HANA Cloud, helping you better differentiate between the transports. That way, it’s easier to keep track of the context of each deployment.

Enhanced User Experience for Configuration Activities

Once you opened a configuration activity, the status used to change automatically to In Progress. However, since opening a configuration activity doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ve made changes, the status will no longer change automatically. This brings even more clarity about the status of your configuration activities for a better overview.

Maximum Transparency for Change Logs

In addition to what the change logs have documented so far, actions related to downloading are now logged, too. This means that if you download the change logs, even this is logged. This enhancement ensures maximum transparency for auditing purposes. What’s more, we’ve improved the user experience for the screens that show you the change log details.

New Themes, Built-In Support, and In-App Details

The Morning Horizon theme is the new default for SAP Central Business Configuration, providing a fresh look and feel to the familiar user interface. Besides, the completely new Evening Horizon theme, a dark variation of Morning Horizon, is now available.

Furthermore, built-in support is now accessible. This feature enables you to raise incidents from within SAP Central Business Configuration and utilize intelligent search functionality. For instance, it allows you to search for product documentation or knowledge base articles. You can access it anytime by choosing the headset icon () in the shell bar.

Additionally, you can view general information about the project, application, and system within SAP Central Business Configuration under your profile. For example, you can verify the content or software release.

That wraps up the new features in this release. If you want to learn more about what’s new, make sure to check out the What’s New click-through tutorial available in SAP Central Business Configuration’s in-app help or on SAP Help Portal. Don’t forget to check out the What’s New Viewer as well.
