Hello and Welcome. I am back with the latest innovations in two-tier ERP with SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition 2308 release.

Let me highlight the TOP 4 innovations in two-tier ERP:

  1. SAP Event Mesh for document replication

  2. Equipment Calibration

  3. Integrated Multiple Specification Inspection

  4. Cash Visibility

Watch my video below to get a glimpse:

SAP Event Mesh for Document Replication

My first highlight is SAP Event Mesh in two-tier ERP. You can leverage SAP Event Mesh to replicate data from headquarters which can be on SAP S/4HANA Cloud, private edition to subsidiaries on SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition and vice versa. Events can be utilized to trigger the document creation e.g., creation of maintenance notification in the corresponding ERP system which can be captured using the Advanced Message Queuing Protocol (AMQP) adapter in SAP Cloud Integration. Details of the events can then be read using OData APIs and can be replicated in two-tier ERP landscape. SAP Event Mesh allows scalable, flexible, reliable data transmission with improved performance and monitoring capabilities for extension and integration scenarios.

Equipment Calibration

Subsidiaries running on SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition can perform equipment calibration at the headquarters on S/4HANA Cloud, private edition or on premise.

Consider a two-tier ERP business use case where subsidiary is on SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition and wants to calibrate its equipment which is rented in, on lease basis, from headquarters. The headquarters owns the equipment and is responsible for end-to-end maintenance and calibration activities. The maintenance planner at subsidiary can create a time-based maintenance plan. Based on the schedule, notification event can be replicated from subsidiary to headquarters for the due calibration task using SAP Event Mesh. The headquarter then creates the calibration order, generates the inspection lot, and carries out result recording & usage decision. Subsequently it is possible to generate the calibration label and inspection report at the headquarters which can be sent to the subsidiary.

Integrated Multiple Specification Inspection

My next highlight is in manufacturing line of business. We see a business use case where subsidiary receives a customer order with required quality specifications based on country specific quality norms. Subsidiary creates purchase order with the headquarters for production. The headquarters ensures that the manufacturing process meets the required standards for specific countries, thus enabling production that comply with country-specific quality standards leveraging functionality of multiple specifications from quality management. The headquarters, on SAP S/4HANA on premises or private cloud, generate quality certificate for the produced batch. This quality certificate received  by subsidiary can be referenced further to certify that the product quality is in line with the customer and country specific quality standards.

Cash Visibility

Finally, the finance highlight of cash flow visibility of subsidiaries at the headquarters. With 2308 release, you get easier integration of cash flows from subsidiaries to headquarters with an outbound service which enables you to replicate cash flows via an API call from SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition to other S/4HANA Cloud or on-premises systems. This service contains cash flow information, such as value date, amount, currency, company code, certainty level, bank account, G/L account and liquidity item.

Thus, you get increased visibility & transparency of subsidiary cash flows at the headquarters. The cashflow data of subsidiaries can be incorporated into various cash reports like the cash position and cash flow analyser at the headquarters.
