The third step in the Waste Management E2E Process For All Countries Blog Series - South African Example is to define and specify waste containers for South Africa. This step is not necessary for all countries/regions, but if it is applicable for your validity area then you can follow along.
A waste container is a portable container in which waste is placed for convenience of movement. The containers are defined into container types which define how a company stores and transports waste based on the rules and regulations of the country/region. Only the defined waste container types are allowed to transport waste.
There are some predefined waste containers that are delivered by SAP, but only for the United States of America.
To add and define your own waste containers, use the Specify Container Types Customizing activity and follow the steps below. In this Customizing activity, you can view and define regulated container types which hold waste products for the disposal process of your country/region.
Important!: The validity area needs to match country/region for the previously defined waste code catalogue, previously defined in the Waste Management E2E Process Blog Series Step 2: Defining a Waste Code Catalogue, as this is also a part of the compliance requirements needed to further the waste management process.
The defined waste containers are then selected in the My Waste Streams - Waste Management app which creates waste streams, the connection between waste products and where they are produced and stored. Once the waste containers are selected in the app for your country/region, it is subsequently used in the rest of the disposal process.
Note: Creating a waste stream will be another step later in the blog series, but is not necessary to create at this point in the end-to-end process.

- Enter the Country/Region ZA for South Africa and the Description Waste Container South Africa
