In This Update

RMAI loved seeing so many of you in Las Vegas this month for our 2023 Annual Conference! With 1,300 attendees, the event was very busy, with high energy throughout. We held 23 education sessions, people connected at 21 networking events, and 92 exhibit booths filled the hall. We also premiered RMAI’s first annual report – didn’t pick up your copy?  Download the 2022 Annual Report here.

Our charity fundraiser for The Shade Tree, a Las Vegas nonprofit sheltering and empowering women and children, donated 500 piggy banks filled with $20 each for children. Thank you for your generous support of this worthwhile cause!

We look forward to seeing you at our Executive Summit in Monterey, CA, August 1-3, 2023. Join us for next year’s 2024 Annual Conference at the Aria in Las Vegas, February 5-8, 2024.

Read on for Federal, Legislative Fund and Certification updates. State, Court Case, Education, and Membership updates will return next month.

2023 RMAI Board of Directors

In the past month, RMAI has monitored the appointment of sub-committee chairs and members to both the House Financial Services Committee and the Senate Banking Committee.  With these appointments now complete, the Federal Committee will begin to strategize RMAI’s advocacy efforts for 2023 which will include monitoring of legislative proposals, engaging in CFPB hearings held on Capitol Hill, and educating new members of the key committees.

The RMAI Federal Committee is currently drafting comments to share RMAI’s concerns on the proposed rule that would establish a registry of non-bank entities supervised by the CFPB.  Consideration is also being given to submitting comments for the biannual CARD Act report and the proposed rule to regarding non-negotiable contract clauses.

Thank You for Your Support in the 2023 Annual Conference Silent Auction
The 2023 Annual Conference Silent Auction was a big success, raising over $25,500 for the RMAI Legislative Fund. Thank you to everyone who donated an item or bid on prizes. We appreciate your generous support!

Make Your Annual Conference Education Count for the Receivables Management Certification Program
Attending education sessions at our 2023 Annual Conference sets you on your way for earning your initial or renewal certification. Individual certification requires 24 education credits every two years. You could have earned up to 17 education credits at the Annual Conference, including all required classes for either initial or renewal certification. Required courses include Introductory Survey Course on Debt Buying (initial certification only), Ethics (initial and renewal certification), and Diversity, Inclusion & Elimination of Bias (initial or renewal certification). If you missed these courses, don’t worry – you can still take them online. Keep in mind, CCOs need 12 in-person education credits, while others can take all of credits online.

We brought the certification forms turned in at the Annual Conference back to the RMAI office to add to individuals’ files. Still need to submit your form? You can download it here.

Complete your remaining education credits via webinars, available for free to members. When you’ve completed your credits, send your completed application for individual certification or recertification and all certificates of completion and/or conference credit forms to cert@rmaintl.org.

For questions about certification, contact RMAI at 916-482-2462 or email cert@rmaintl.org.

RMAI’s leadership cultivates relationships within the receivables management industry to expand business opportunities for members.
