For SAP Analytics Cloud Quarterly Release Cycle (QRC) customers, this release and its features will be available as part of the QRC Q4 2023 release. View the QRC release schedule here.

System Administration and Technical Requirements

Although not required, you may upgrade to the latest SAP Analytics Cloud agent version 1.0.381 to take advantage of all data acquisition types.

The agent’s minimum version remains at 1.0.75, with the following exceptions:

  • Version 1.0.99 for SAP ERP/SQL Database

  • Version 1.0.365for SAP universe (UNX). The SAP Analytics Cloud agent requires additional setup steps, for more details see SAP Note 3262098

  • Version 1.0.353 for SAP Business Warehouse (BW)

  • Version 1.0.235 for SAP HANA View

  • Version 1.0.248 for File Server

For more information, see System Requirements and Technical Prerequisites.

Regarding supported features and required updates for the integration of SAP BW with SAP Analytics Cloud, refer to SAP Note 2541557 for further details.

Regarding supported features and required updates for live universe access through SAP BusinessObjects Live Data Connect with SAP Analytics Cloud, refer to SAP Note 2771921 for further details.

Please download the latest version of the Simple Deployment Kit from Service Marketplace.

Note: To avoid downloading older versions and potentially exposing users to a vulnerable bundling of the Cloud Connector with SAPJVM, or Apache Tomcat, only the three latest versions of the kits are available to download.

For Cloud agent version change management details, refer to SAP Note 3264839.

Release Highlights

Data Modeling

Add ToPeriod Feature to Modeling

ToPeriod, a new dynamic time navigation formula, is now available in the Modeler. This new formula computes running totals across flexible time granularities such as Year, Quarter, Month, Period, Week or Day and is used in conjunction with LOOKUP or RESTRICT.  (SAP Road Map Explorer)

Refer to SAP Note - 3365184 for assistance achieving the results in a model and at a story level.

Additionally, hints will now be available when choosing any dynamic time formula is typed.

Enterprise Planning

Actual Time: Rename due date to end date

In calendar events, the term "due date" has changed to "end date".

Story Design

Improved Display of SAP BW Conditions in Chart Context Menu

When using charts that interact with SAP BW conditions, the user experience has been improved. The menu will now display just the condition's description, but it will also show the "ID (Description)" combination in a hover-over tooltip. This feature is only supported in the optimized story experience.

Dynamic Text for Secondary Structure Input Controls (Cross Calculation OR Measure for New Model Type with Account Dimension)

Optimized Story Experience now supports the consumption of a Dynamic Text to reflect the selection in a secondary structure input control. It is defined as either:

  • Cross Calculation Input Control for Measure Models (i.e. New Model Type with Multiple Measures, SAP HANA, SAP Datasphere, and so on)

  • Measure Input Control for New Model Type with an Account Dimension

It is accessible via the Dynamic Text creation dialog under the new section called Measure and Cross Calculation Input Controls.

Story Extensibility

Composite widgets as reusable widgets in Optimized Story Experience (phase one)

Users can now create a composite widget, which is a re-useable building block that can be consumed like any other standard widget in stories. Composites are stored in the file repository as an artifact – allowing for filtering and ability to transport it to another tenant. The use of composites will help speed up development time. (SAP Road Map Explorer)

A composite has its own authorization, therefore giving flexibility to assign the proper permission to each user.

Stay tuned for a more thorough blog post on composites from our product management team!

Support for scripting as well as advanced features for converting a responsive page to an optimized story experience

When converting a responsive page classic story to the Optimized Story Experience, all unified story features are now supported. (SAP Road Map Explorer)

Features included:

  • Scripting

  • Pause refresh options

  • Pop-up

  • Responsive rule configuration

  • Device preview

  • Data change insights

Please consider that there are differences between the classic and optimized story responsive page. The converted story may not look identical to the classic one, and may require minor manual adjustments.
