Dear Community,
In this post I will provide information on monitoring your business processes after you have migrated a non-SAP legacy system using RISE with SAP and have successfully gone live. I will discuss the business process monitoring options available, provide direction on where you can find more information, and provide links to learning assets that will help you along the way. Please note the solutions I am referring to in this post are included with your business process starter pack for RISE with SAP, there is no additional cost to use them.
As we all know, a successful implementation/migration is only one step in the digital transformation journey. From a business process standpoint, the focus now shifts to optimization and continuous improvement of these processes. Below I am providing two options to consider:
Option 1
SAP Cloud ALM Business Process Monitoring usage rights are included with the SAP Enterprise Support cloud editions and RISE with SAP. Utilizing this solution will allow you to monitor business processes and identify areas where efficiency/effectiveness my need to be improved. This solution provides transparency over the end-to-end processes of the entire Intelligent Suite. This enables both line-of-business users and IT users to directly identify business process disruptions across the entire system landscape and to react to anomalies before critical situations arise.
With Business Process Monitoring (BPMon) you can:
- Identify Business disruptions and exceptions in process execution based on pre-defined key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Identify technical issues which have direct impact on mission critical processes with technical monitoring
- Safeguard Business Continuity

Option 2
SAP Signavio Process Insights (included in the business process starter pack for RISE with SAP) is a process analytics solution that helps you rapidly discover areas for improvement and automation within your SAP business processes. It identifies, analyzes, prioritizes and monitors your most critical business processes and alerts you when an issue arises.
Key Business Benefits include:
- Understanding how your business processes perform, identify issues and blockers, compare individual organizational units
- Reduce costs and accelerate processes
- Improve agility through process harmonization and standardization

As part of Enterprise Support Cloud Edition maintenance you are entitled to consume value maps. Value maps provide a wealth of guidance with expert support to ensure success in adopting intelligent technologies.
Particularly relevant to this discussion are the Application Lifecycle Management value map (where you will find SAP Cloud ALM and the BPMon tools) and the SAP Signavio | Business Transformation (where you will find Process Insights).

- Once registered you may use this same link, this time select the “Access Value Maps” button or you can use the direct links below.
Within the Application Lifecycle Management Value Map, you will find Business Process Monitoring in Cloud ALM. Here we provide guidance on setting up the Business Process Monitoring Application and the Process Performance Indicators in SAP Cloud ALM. Assets are configured in a roadmap type layout, allowing you to easily understand what steps need to be taken and when. Within the value map our learning journeys move you from the Cloud ALM basics all the way to operating cloud-centric solutions with SAP Cloud ALM, including in-depth upskilling on Business Process Monitoring.
Within the SAP Signavio | Business Process Transformation Value Map, I invite you to use the SAP Signavio Process Insights Learning Journey. This learning journey will step you though all aspects of SAP Signavio Process insights. You will learn from introductory videos and presentations to understand the very basics and move into assets allowing you to become more competent with the solution by learning how to setup SAP Signavio Process Insight from an administrative perspective. In addition, both business and IT users will have specific guidance for usage in their roles, and the ability to stay current on what’s new with the solution.
