After performing various user experience roles at SAP over the past eight years, I decided to join the Cloud ERP team as product manager for SAP Fiori elements. This role was a great fit for me, giving me the opportunity to contribute to helping simplify the way we build apps for SAP S/4HANA while aligning with my passions and interests. In this blog post, I will share the story of why I embarked on this exciting journey into the team that is creating products like SAP Fiori elements, SAP Fiori tools, and many others that shape how customers interact with SAP S/4HANA Cloud and influence their overall perceptions of the Cloud ERP user experience.

Coming from the central UX team within SAP, I am aware that great technology is not only just about functionality, but also about the experience and therefore the design system it is based on. SAP Fiori elements is a framework that SAP developed to simplify and accelerate the development of SAP Fiori applications within the SAP ecosystem. This always made sense to me since SAP solutions can be very complex and time consuming to build. With templates, smart controls, and out of the box responsive design, SAP Fiori elements can achieve a consistent look and feel with reduced effort through its low-code foundation. In today’s UX and design environment that is mostly driven by consumer apps, a business scenario needs to achieve the same ease of use.

One of the most appealing aspects of being a Product Manager for me is the ability to shape the direction of an already great product and impact its success. As part of the Usability Test center for many years, I have learned that enabling consistency among products will always lead to higher user satisfaction and therefore happy customers. At SAP UX Engineering, I found another exciting opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the company's UX story and combine it with my passion for the topic. I am a strong believer in giving the customer the right tools to achieve what it is required for their use cases.

I look forward to the journey and of course the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, as I work alongside a very talented team to create software that not only meets but exceeds user expectations. In my first few months, I expect to probe the many nuances of app development by hearing how customers, partners, and colleagues use SAP Fiori elements and SAP Fiori tools to build applications to solve their unique business problems.
