This is done using another built in capability called Smart Data Integration (SDI) and the Data Provisioning Agent (DPA) which is included with SDI. Typically, SDI is used to replicate to/from a source except in this case, SDI and DPA provide query on-demand from a HANA instance against a source. Look for a deep dive in another blog.
